How We Approach Each Case

We bring a unique approach to litigation by seeking to know the client and learn the result sought and then to craft a plan of action that will reach that result.
We believe that in every case the issues that make a difference in that case should guide the course of the case, and that extraneous matters should not be pursued.
We believe that the client's cost expectations and communication requirements must always be our first consideration.
We believe in frank assessments of liability, costs, and the time a case might require.
We believe in early evaluations and timely updates if an evaluation changes.
We believe in partnering with our clients in all that we do.
We believe in staffing each case with only those people needed to accomplish the task assigned. We have the staff and expertise to handle any case, from the simplest to the most complex, as can be seen from some of the cases we have handled in recent years:
- a 28-year history of defending asbestos manufacturers and their insurers in courts across eastern America;
- the defense of a national insurer for allegedly using red-lining to discriminate in writing homeowners insurance;
- construction and surety matters involving some of the biggest projects undertaken in Virginia, West Virginia and DC;
- policy coverage issues in a host of settings;
- the sale of the assets of a dot.com company and the assurance of compliance with the due diligence requirements imposed in the contracts.
